Flatbed crashes on Route 46

Four people were injured in an accident that occurred on Route 46 in New Jersey. According to local police, the accident occurred at 2:51 a.m. near Fairfield. The accident occurred when a 2014 model Nissan driving east in the right lane was sideswiped by a 2012 model Ford flatbed truck in the left lane. After the collision, the tow truck veered off the road and ran into a pole.

Officers responding to the accident were able to help free the truck driver from the wreckage, and he was taken to Morristown Memorial Hospital to receive medical treatment for his injuries. The driver was in stable condition as of 10:30 a.m. that morning, according to reports. The West Essex First Aid Squad and Fairfield Fire Department worked together to extract the female passenger from the flatbed. She was brought to Paterson's St. Joseph's Medical Center to receive treatment for the injuries she suffered in the wreck. The two people in the Nissan were treated and released by Pequannock's Chilton Hospital for minor injuries. None of the drivers received citations from the police.

People involved in truck accidents might seek legal counsel if they plan to pursue a personal injury lawsuit. Maintenance trucks, tractor trailers, commercial vehicles and flatbeds can become involved in very severe accidents on the road because of the size and weight of the vehicles. Filing a lawsuit may help a victim recover damages related to such accidents.

In this case, the driver of the Nissan may consider filing a personal injury claim to recover compensation for any medical costs or vehicle repairs that stem from the truck accident. In order to recover those damages, a lawyer working with the plaintiff may be tasked with proving negligence on the part of the driver driver or his employer.
